Nursing and Midwifery unit

Headed by the Director of Nursing, who is in charge of coordinating all the nursing activities within the hospital, the nursing and midwifery unit comprises of the following departments: Emergency Department, headed by the Head of Emergency; Gyneco-Obsteric Department, headed by the Head of Gyneco-Obsteric; Surgery Department, currently the High Dependent Unit (HDU), headed by the Head of HDU; Internal Medicine and Outpatient Department, headed by the Head of Internal Medicine and OPD; Pediatrics Department, headed by the Head of Pediatrics.

Nursing and Midwifery unit

Headed by the Director of Nursing, who is in charge of coordinating all the nursing activities within the hospital, the nursing and midwifery unit comprises of the following departments

Principal Accountabilities

  • Supervise all activities of nursing care in the hospital.
  • Supervise the regularity and quality of health education delivered at the services.
  • Supervise consumption and order management of drugs and medical equipment services;
  • Supervise the cleanliness of premises and compliance with hygiene et d’asepsie by care givers rules;
  • Participate in the general physician visit;
  • Monitor the application by visiting the instructions issues by doctors of service or Director General of Ruhango Provincial Hospital;
  • Participate in the evaluation of nursing staff;
  • Participate in the evaluation of performance in clinical services;
  • Member of pharma-therapet committee, Quality improvement committee, Accreditation committee, and Disciplinary committee.
  • Participate in the development of rota with the charge of human resources management
  • Attend meeting of the management committee
  • Organize monthly meeting of heads of services.
  • Develop the business plan for nursing service.
  • Be sensitive and respectful of the wishes of the patient and family, assess and manage psychological, social and spiritual/ religious needs, use the most appropriate interventions that are consistent with the choices of the patient,
  • Report to the Director General of Ruhango Provincial Hospital;
