Pharmacy

Medical Laboratory

The Medical Laboratory Department of Ruhango Provincial Hospital plays an essential role in delivering quality patient care by offering accurate and prompt diagnostic services through the examination of specimens including blood, urine, stool, tissue samples, and other body fluids. The department supports healthcare professionals in detecting diseases, tracking patients’ response to treatment, reducing the risk of complications, and improving overall health outcomes. 

Medical Imaging

The Medical Imaging at Ruhango Provincial Hospital is responsible for providing diagnostic and imaging services that help detect, monitor, and guide the treatment of diseases and injuries using advanced medical imaging technology.  

Physiotherapy Service

The Physiotherapy Service of Ruhango Provincial Hospital is dedicated to promoting, restoring, and maintaining patients’ physical function, mobility, and overall wellbeing through comprehensive assessment, evidence-based treatment, rehabilitation, and preventive care services. The department supports recovery from illness, injury, surgery, and physical impairment while reducing pain, enhancing functional independence, and preventing future complications through individualized physiotherapy interventions.

Dentistry

The Department of Dentistry at Ruhango Provincial Hospital is an essential component of the hospital’s healthcare delivery system. Dentistry is the medical specialty concerned with the prevention, evaluation, diagnosis, and surgical or non-surgical treatment of diseases affecting the oral cavity.

The department is staffed by qualified dental technicians who provide diagnosis, management, and treatment of dental defects and injuries.

The department also provides clinical dental services for inpatients, including:

Nutrition

The Nutrition Department of Ruhango Provincial Hospital is committed to supporting, safeguarding, and enhancing patients’ health through detailed nutritional evaluation, nutrition counseling, and specialized dietary support services. The Social Work Service of Ruhango Hospital plays the role of supporting patients and their families with the social, emotional, economic, and practical challenges that may affect healthcare outcomes.

Isange One Stop Centre

The Isange One Stop Center (IOSC) of Ruhangp Provincial Hospital provides comprehensive, free, confidential, and survivor-centered care for victims of gender-based violence (GBV), child abuse, domestic violence, and sexual violence. The center brings multiple essential services together in one location to ensure victims receive timely medical, psychosocial, social, legal, and protective support. It plays a vital role in protecting victims, promoting justice, and supporting recovery through the following services:

  1. Emergency Medical Care
    • Provide immediate treatment for injuries resulting from violence or abuse.
    • Manage medical emergencies related to physical and sexual assaults.
  2. Clinical Management of Sexual Violence
    • Conduct medical examinations.
    • Prevent HIV infection through Post-Exposure Prophylaxis (PEP).
    • Prevent sexually transmitted infections (STIs).
    • Provide emergency contraception to prevent unwanted pregnancy when appropriate.
    • Administer necessary vaccinations, such as tetanus and hepatitis B, when indicated.
  3. Forensic Medical Examination
    • Collect, preserve, and document forensic evidence to support legal investigations and court proceedings while maintaining confidentiality and proper chain of custody.
  4. Psychological Counseling and Mental Health Support
    • Offer trauma counseling, emotional support, crisis intervention, and ongoing psychological care to victims and their families.
  5. Legal Assistance and Justice Support
    • Collaborate with police, prosecutors, and other justice institutions to facilitate legal processes and help victims access justice.
  6. Protection and Social Support
    • Assess victims' safety needs and connect them with social protection services, safe room, child protection services, and other community resources.
  7. Case Management and Follow-up
    • Coordinate multidisciplinary care and ensure survivors receive continued medical, psychological, legal, and social support throughout their recovery.
  8. Referral Services
    • Refer victims to specialized healthcare providers, rehabilitation services, social welfare agencies, or other organizations when additional care is required.
  9. Confidential and Survivor-Centered Care
    • Ensure all services are delivered with dignity, privacy, respect, and without discrimination, while prioritizing the victim's safety and informed consent.
  10. Community Awareness and Prevention
    • Support public education and awareness initiatives aimed at preventing gender-based violence, promoting children's rights, and encouraging early reporting of abuse.
