The Environmental Health Office is one of our paramedical services responsible of the health promotion by performing all activities related to Environmental Health programs and mainly focus on prevention,  preparedness, education, control of diseases, implementing all these through routine monitoring, education, surveillance and sampling of facilities and conditions that may contribute to the occurrence or transmission of diseases that can affect the health within the hospital, its catchment area and the community in whole.

Different activities are performed within the department, ranging from developing or building capacity of Community and Environmental Health Programs; coordinating activities related to the prevention and control of infections in healthcare setting; providing technical advice and guidance to matters related to Community and  Environmental Health Programs; coordinating the control of disease vectors, rodents pests and other carriers of pathogenic micro-organisms; conceiving and conducting environmental and occupational health Impact Assessment; inspecting water and waste treatment plants, medical waste management to ensure compliance with health and safety legislation; conducting food safety and water quality surveillance; providing advices on Occupational Health and Safety in working place; coordinating and executing plans for prevention and control of communicable diseases and  health promotion through health education; formulating and developing guidelines, SOPs, Policy and Procedures related to Community and Environmental health Programs; and perform other related duties assigned.
